Project Overview

As part of an on-going convergence and constant development of media and IT technologies, our client has placed a significant investment in the development of its Internet Broadcast platform - focussing on the delivery of both archived and streaming media across all technology platforms.

The project is in flight and has delivered significant outputs to the general public. However, as the ongoing delivery schedule set further technically demanding targets, concerns grew regarding the management and control of Intellectual Property, management of the risk of staff turnover and maintaining the continuity of development production.

Service Delivery

Reed PS proposed a two stage arrangement to resolve the situation, the first was to transfer the existing workforce into a work package that guaranteed resource continuity and the ability to flexibly adjust to an agile defined suite of requirements. We ensured continuity of the existing support operation by negotiating a release of the contract based support team with their incumbent suppliers, and taking over the team without losing any IP.

The second stage of the engagement is the implementation of service based work packages covering areas such as code development, testing services and user experience, and fully transferring the risk of the delivery of these packages to Reed PS. This will ensure that the project expenditure delivers guaranteed outputs in order to ensure that the primary programme remains on track, whilst retaining the flexibility required in order to meet the demands of an ever evolving market place.

Value

Over a two year period the transfer and management of the workforce will save our client £140,000 in direct costs. The flexible structure of the Work Package approach means that Reed PS have been able to provide additional specialist technical resources to supplement a rapidly changing technical environment. Part of the Workforce Management provision has seen Reed PS assure that resource continuity will be maintained and IPR within the team is controlled.
